At SOLOS, we rely on technologically advanced and resource-efficient fish farming in a closed-loop system. Our aquaponic system combines state‑of‑the‑art water treatment with intelligent control technology to ensure optimal water quality for our fish—completely free of antibiotics or chemical additives.
By combining cutting‑edge technology, sustainable feed, and circular economy principles, we guarantee eco‑friendly, regional, and future‑proof fish production—delivering top quality with minimal ecological footprint.
Our fish are raised in a closed-loop system without antibiotics, microplastics, or chemical residues—ensuring a safe and natural product.
Our CO₂‑free fish farming system, thanks to smart aquaponic circulation and filtering power of thousands of plants, is constantly supplied with clean, clear water. Combined with high‑quality feed, we make a significant contribution to preserving natural resources and valuable ecosystems.
After gentle cultivation, our fish are transported alive within a 20 km radius, slaughtered weekly regionally, and processed immediately. This process delivers not only excellent flavor but also peak freshness.
Thanks to optimal water quality and stress‑free rearing, the catfish grows healthy and without antibiotics. Its meaty, low‑boned flesh is a popular choice in modern cuisine and a sustainable alternative to imported fish.
We are currently testing rearing for sturgeon, perch, tench, eel, and zander. Our goal is to explore the potential of more fish species and develop sustainable local alternatives to imported fish for regional food production.
The INTERREG project “Sustainable Fish and Shrimp Farming in Mountain Regions Using Closed‑Loop Systems” (FISH) aims to promote sustainable aquaculture in alpine regions. It’s carried out together with Alpenaquafarm Tirol GmbH in North Tyrol and supported scientifically by the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie.
The project merges aquaponics with developing ecological insect‑based fish feed to overcome the environmental drawbacks of conventional fish feed and to promote local biodiversity.
This initiative brings us closer to eco‑friendly aquaculture and sustainable food production, targeting climate‑neutral and local food systems.
